Halloween Decor...hold the bobble head pumpkins & bloody eyeballs!

I have to say I'm not hugely into decorating for Halloween for two reasons. One, lots of the cheap and easy decor you can pick up out there is either kinda obnoxious or just plain gross. Two, it's a one day wonder holiday which means you drag out all that stuff for a one night event and I don't care who you are, nobody's got time for that!! Now with that said, I realize I sound like the scrooge of Halloween and since the kids love all that stuff I think there is defiantly a place for it...outside! I love a scary, gory, fun display sprawling across the yard. Yes, key up the orange lights and strobe effects and do it up right out there! But when it comes to inside, I wanted to post a budget friendly reusable idea that was less commercial in display but still festive! And as to not overdo the inside festivities I chose my front foyer table which is most visible to guests and treaters and made one Halloween vignette using some store finds and a little DIY!

Here she is!

So fairly simple, I had the candle holders (Target) and decided that the black tapers would be a subtle but Halloween appropriate color. I found black at Hobby Lobby. Then the candy jar came pre chalkboard labeled from Hobby Lobby. They have a whole section of jars with these chalkboard label decals on them. I wrote in "Beware" more for me than anyone else! Every year I buy candy corn and my kids remind me that they hate it as I say "What do you mean?!?!" with both cheeks stuffed full of them! I have no idea why the taste of buttery sugar made chewable is so addictive but they are like crack!

The branches you can find anywhere (most especially your yard, if you have some trees). I bundled them with string (Hobby Lobby for $2.99) that had a fun gold thread weaved through it

The black picture frames are new from Target and I bought them to use in my office when they are done being on Halloween display. I bought three of them to balance out the cute skull napkins I found for dirt cheap at World Market in their holiday loot.

I purchased the white fake pumpkins from Target as well for $9 and $6. Then I bought less than a half yard of two different black lacy looking fabrics to cover the white pumpkins. I used push pins to secure the lace at the top near the stem and then trimmed the excess fabric away.

For the hurricane glass candle holder I used some fall-ish looking items to fill it up and used some of my leftover gold dipped pine cones from my Fall table scape I created in an earlier post this month.

And finally on for the mirror sitting above the table I used the white spider web they sell in the bag and that you can hand stretch. I also bought a sequin decal at Micheal's that says "BOO!" to peak through the web on the mirror. Simple but festive and it doesn't compete too much with what's going on on the table.

So there you have it! Halloween, budget friendly table display that is not too over the top. No stobe lights necessary!

Hope you enjoyed and got some ideas too! Happy Halloween!

  2. OMG, I just did something very similar with the skulls but it won't get posted for a while yet. So, I love it of course ;)
And I agree that most of the Halloween decor is gross but I also had to do something yucky for the kids. They love it.

  4. Oh wao! I'm very impressed...at first glance the set-up seems like an easy one but then you can tell all the detail and through that went into every single part. Love it! The napkins was the best part! I love how you framed them. Zara home has fab napkins...I bought some last summer and I always thought of framing them....now after so many washes they are discolored but it would have worked at the beginning.
